As the audience stepped
out of the movie, the general reaction was, “of course it has a predictable
story line. Adding to, it has a sloppy ending. But, in spite of all this it is
good entertaining movie”.
I thoroughly agree with
the audience there is something in the movie which really worked that makes one
feel it is a good one time watch and definitely it is…!
Coming to the story, Ek
Tha Tiger is a tale of a RAW agent coded as Tiger (Salman Khan) need not
mention that he is the best of RAW. Tiger is sent on a mission to Ireland to
monitor activities of Indian Nuclear Scientist Prof.Kidwai played by Roshan Seth
under the suspicion that professor is sharing his inputs with the enemy.
Tiger approaches Zoya (Katrina
Kaif), professor’s house care taker as Manish Chandra an upcoming writer seeking
her help to fix an appointment with Professor. In the process of helping Manish
both Zoya & Manish/Tiger fall in love with each other.
Story unfolds when
Tiger catches Zoya stealing information from the professor’s hard disk, only to
know that she is just his counterpart in ISI.
One has to watch the movie
to know how does the Zoya & Manish/Tiger’s love story end.
Coming to the merits of
the movie, the thing that really worked is the sublime performances of Salman
& Katrina which appear very real and pleasing to watch. Their chemistry has
just hit the right spot. Both Salman & Katrina have done a fabulous job.
Adding to this, picture
perfect locations of Istanbul/Ireland/Cuba & London are a treat to watch,
thanks to Assem Mishra the cinematographer. Sohail Sen & Sajid Wajid perfectly
jelled their tunes with Julius Packiam’s back ground score. Lastly, one has to
credit the stunt director for his brilliant action sequences especially in the
second half of the movie.
Coming to let downs, obviously
a predictable story line where in you can easily guess what is in store and
adding to its sloppy ending. A part from this the editing work is pathetic almost
one can see Salman’s body double in most of the action scenes. The other aspect
that can be really worked on is the length of the movie.
Lastly, a word for the
director Kabir Khan no doubt who is one of the finest we have. All praises to
him for his taking because, as I repeatedly say in my reviews when you have powerful
& bankable stars, directors cannot be true to their original taking. In
most of the cases they need to accommodate the aspirations of so called super
stars strong fan base, which in most of the cases back fires. Kabir Khan’s taking
was real only if he had a good story to his support it would have been better.
To sum it up Ek Tha
Tiger is not a great movie but definitely a onetime entertainer for sure..! Go
watch it..!
Note: The real name of
Tiger/Manish is Avinash Singh Rathode J J
