If one
has to credit people for this amazing experience called “Snow White and the Huntsman” then first & foremost it would be
DaughertyJohn, Lee Hancock & Hossein Amini, the screenplay writers of the
movie.
Snow White,
which we all know is a fairy tale of a helpless beautiful girl bewitched by
stepmom rescued by funny dwarves, finally meets love of her life. Taking the
above plot the way these three screen play writers changed the course &
feel of the movie makes it worth a watch, and personally I believe that worked
big time.
The
story begins as the King Magnus played by Noah Huntley after the death of his
first wife, falls in love with Ravenna (a witch in disguise) played by Charlize
Theron. Both get married not much to the liking of King Magnus beautiful
daughter Snow White played by Kristen Stewart who sense her step mom’s evil
intentions.
Ravenna,
immediately after the marriage murders King Magnus and takes control of his
kingdom with the help of her cruel brother Finn played by Sam Spruell and jails
Snow White for life.
As the
time goes by Ravenna expands her magical dark empire and becomes more powerful
by praying on young girls beauty in her kingdom.
The
story unfolds as Ravenna’s magical mirror reveals that her wait for immortality
would soon be ending if she can have the heart of a girl of the purest blood
named Snow White.
Realizing
Snow Whites escape from prison into the Dark Forest the witch orders Huntsman
played by Chris Hemsworth to bring her back from the forest.
Huntsman
who has been sent to kill Snow White falls in love with her and becomes her
protector. After escaping from the dark forest both Snow White and the Huntsman
reach the magical world of Seven Dwarfs (Bob Hoskins as Muir,Ian
McShane as Beith,Johnny Harris as Quert,Toby Jones as Coll.,Eddie
Marsan as Duir,Ray Winstone as Gort,Nick Frost as Nion,Brian
Gleeson as Gus) who lends their helping hand to Snow White in regaining her
kingdom back.
How Snow
White, Hunts Man, Seven Dwarfs with help of King Magnus loyalists takes on the
Witch is the plot of the movie.
Coming
to individual performances Charlize Theron as a dark witch does an intense
& splendid job. Kristen Stewart as Snow White is just too good and does a
convincing act. Chris Hemsworth as huntsman plays his role to perfection.
Watch
this movie for some outstanding locations which were shot in Wale & Ireland
equally captured by a brilliant cinematography by Greig Fraser. Special effect
just adds to the beauty of the movie.
Personal
letdown has been patchy editing work and background score which could have been
better at places.
Overall “Snow White and the Huntsman” is
definitely worth a watch as you get to see more bloody, violent and different dimension
of Fairy Tale which is equally convincing.
My Rating: 3.5/5
