Star Cast: Anupam Kher, Akshay Kumar, Manoj Bajpai, Jimmy Shergill, Kajal Agarwal, Rajesh Sharma & Kishor Kadam.

Duration: 143 Minutes
Dated 18/03/1987, Safdarjung police station rings up with a phone call from CBI office at New Delhi, intimating about an income tax raid. Ranveer Singh (Jimmy Shergill) station inspector, along with his team reaches the informed place.
Cut to, the Fake CBI chief, P.K.Sharma (Anupam Kher) along with his three members Ajay Singh (Akshay Kumar), Joginder (Rajesh Sharma), Iqbal (Kishor Kadam) raids the minister’s house seizing the entire black money. Fake CBI team leaves the raid spot with the money, leaving Ranveer and the minister conned.
Here enters the real CBI in the form of Wasim (Manoj Bajpai) who has been given the charge to bring down these Fakesters who have conned 49 people across different cities but none reported. Wasim with the help of Ranvir tracks the next spot where in the fake CBI team would raid.
Wasim is all set to nab the gamesters during their course as it would give him substantial evidence to put them behind the bars. On the other hand Ajay is all set for the biggest gamble of his life unaware of wasim’s intention.
Can Ajay and his team carry out their 50th Con successfully form wasim is the plot of Special 26.
Coming to the story and narration, if I had to compare this with Neeraj Pandey’s previous brilliant presentation “A Wednesday” I would rate it very less, for the following reasons:  Special 26 has a very predictable story line unlike “A Wednesday”, where in you can almost guess the ending. Adding to it, the story being dragged in pieces just takes the fizz out of the movie.
On the other hand Niraj Pandey’s novel approach towards the taking of the script or handling of characters that have an underlining comic touch is just a treat to watch.  Special mention for Neeraj Pandey’s direction, the way he has shown the movie to audience against the backdrop of 1980’s, making it spotless for any criticism.
Coming to the performances to be very honest all the actors have done an excellent job. Have to specially mention about Akshay Kumar who has shed his star image and just eased into the limited character of Ajay.
Witty dialogues, good editing and some ear touching music just add into Special 26, making it a good watch. I would only criticize special 26 for its dragging length and an expected ending.
On the whole Special 26 is good one time watch but to be honest nothing special though.
Rating: 3/5
